EDDIE McGuire's Collingwood board will not be challenged in an election this year, with two directors set to be elected unopposed.
While Collingwood's disastrous investments in the Beach Hotel at Port Melbourne has turned a record profit into a $3.3 million loss - the sale of the Beach Hotel and Diamond Creek Tavern causing a write-down of $5.8 million - it has not yielded a challenge to McGuire's board.Nominations for election to the club board closed on Tuesday.Directors Sally Capp and Ian McMullin, thus, will be elected unopposed to the seven-member board at the club's annual general meeting on December 17 at the MCG.The Magpies have not had a board election for several years.Leigh Matthews, the coach of Collingwood's 1990 premiership, will finally receive his life membership at the meeting, 13 years after his departure from the club.
