BRISBANE Lions utility Jared Brennan is relishing a freewheeling role after being thrown into the centre during the Lions' victory over Collingwood last Friday.
Brennan, who won several clearances from a muddy Gabba centre square in an eye-catching display, said: "I've never played in the midfield before and I'm loving it. "We've got a big midfield core group, probably about 10 to 12 players, whereas before we were probably relying on Simon Black and Luke Power."Coach Leigh Matthews has vowed to continue to use him in a variety of roles during the season, with Brennan possibly to have a defensive job against Sydney at the Gabba on Saturday night following the loss of Josh Drummond because of a quad strain. -- ANDREW STAFFORD
