COLLINGWOOD midfielder Brodie Holland can't believe how quickly his rollercoaster ride in the AFL has accelerated.
Runner-up in the Copeland Trophy in 2005, the tenacious onballer had a dream injury-free run that has turned into a nightmare and he says he is likely to retire at the end of the season after a frustrating two-year battle with an Achilles injury. The 28-year-old has not played a senior match since round five against North Melbourne. After receiving an ankle injury in Collingwood's loss to Werribee in the VFL recently, Holland said he would turn his thoughts to life outside football."I've got to see how the Achilles comes up in the next month or two. Obviously in the next couple of weeks, I'll sit down with Mick (Malthouse) and see what's best for me and the team moving forward. If my Achilles are still sore in the next 10 weeks, then I'll probably look at retiring," he said. The 119-game player was drafted by the Pies in 2001 after being selected by Fremantle in the 1997 AFL draft. -- BRENT DIAMOND
